Matching Symptoms to the Correct Service
Reduced pressure at multiple fixtures usually points to a partially closed valve, clogged aerator or failing backflow preventer rather than a simple faucet issue. A pressure reading taken at the hose bib before and after each isolation valve quickly shows whether the restriction lies in the service line or inside the building.
Repeated drain backups or gurgling at fixtures indicate a downstream obstruction in the building drain or sewer lateral. Standing water around the water heater or discolored discharge from the relief valve points instead to expansion or temperature control problems that require separate diagnosis from the drain system.
